DIGITAL MEDIUM stage 1: The Archers Responder

The Archers plays on iPlayer, the microphone passes the audio to ditaction software from 1998, which is then read by text-to-speech software (as a sort of conversational resonse to the Archers), deleted, and the cycle repeats. Taking control of the process is Visual Basic running through the Excel spreadsheet software. I added extra functions from the Windows system folder that allow the program to take control of the keyboard and mouse, and this technique could be used to automate lots of other sorts of processes.

Due to the bad video quality, it's impossible to see or hear the exact sentences intepreted by the software, but I like the fact the computer tries to impose grammar and sense on sentences which it also applies to purely random white noise (the next stage in the project).
