CAT Featured in Camden Arts Centre show
The cat uses two ultrasonic sensors to navigate around the space. Each sensor is connected to a DPDT relay that controls the direction of the motor running the wheel on that side. Normally the motors run forwards, but when a sensor detects an object close to it, the motor on that side reverses direction. Therefore, when there is a large object in front of the cat it is detected by both sensors simultaneously, such as a wall (or Craig Kao's leg sculpture), causing both motors to reverse, causing the cat to reverse. Sometimes, such as in the case of Craig's leg sculpture, this traps the cat in a loop.
